Edward Harcourt – Chair
Edward is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of Keble College. He recently completed a four-year secondment to the UKRI Arts and Humanities Research Council as Director of Research, Strategy and Innovation.
Currently he is academic lead for PPIEP at the NHIR Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centre and Academic Director of the Royal Institute of Philosophy.
Edward’s links to the Tavi go back to 2010, when he convened the first of five series of annual seminars linking philosophy and psychoanalysis at the Tavistock. He became Chair of Trustees in Autumn 2023.
Louise Lyon
Louise is a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst with a specialism in working with young people and their families.
Initially joining joined the Tavistock Clinic in 1984 for a two-year training post, Louise returned in 1996 with a brief to develop time-limited approaches for adolescents and young adults. She went on to hold many senior leadership positions within the Trust over the next 25 years, including as Trust Director from 2008 to 2014 and chair of the Tavistock Clinic Foundation.
Louise was instrumental in establishing the new Tavistock and Portman Charity as part of the Trust’s centenary celebrations and was its first chair until this year. She has published on relationships in early infancy time-limited psychoanalytic approaches.
Francesca Eastman
Francesca Eastman works in the South Camden CAMHS service within the Tavistock and Portman as the CBT lead and EDI champion. She holds a MSc in child clinical psychology.
After the Grenfell tragedy, Frankie became a family support worker and started to work more closely with trauma. Growing up in the area, the tragedy was close to her heart. Frankie has also worked extensively with children who have survived child sexual exploitation and abuse, managing projects with Barnado’s Charity.
Eenasul Fateh
Professor Eenasul Fateh is a psychologist, social scientist, strategy consultant and artist-researcher. He works part-time at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust as a member of the clinical team of the Trauma Service and is its first ‘Expert by Experience’ (EbE). He is also a board member of the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations.
In 1980. he became a research fellow at LSE in international political economy and strategic studies, later training in psychodynamic counselling, groupwork and psychoanalytical studies.
As a strategy consultant he has advised the likes of Adidas, Citibank, EDF, DEFRA and the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, working on regeneration projects in Fogo Island, Dale, Aarhus, Berlin and Deptford. He is a former chair of Black Mime Theatre Company and Entelechy Arts. He also led the development of the world’s first integrated cultural masterplan for a capital city during a four-year stint as co-chair at London City Hall from 2000.
Alongside extensive teaching stints – including at Cranfield, LSE and RCA – he has worked as a youth and community worker in ‘at risk’ settings, including with street gangs; he is honorary strategic counsel to MIND Ealing’s crisis prevention cafe for young people. As interdisciplinary artist ‘aladin aladin’, his work has been featured at the ICA, Whitechapel Art Gallery, British Festival of Visual Theatre, Manifesta Biennale, London 2012 Festival/Cultural Olympiad.
Angela Greatley
Angela is an experienced leader with a strong track record of success across various sectors. She has particular strengths in governance, quality improvement and board leadership. She was awarded the OBE in the 2012 Birthday Honours list for services to mental health.
She has experience as both a Chair and Non-Executive Director within NHS settings, and a successful executive career including as Chief Executive of the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health and as Director of Commissioning in a London Health Authority.
Angela is also a previous Chair of the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust.
Rachel James
A Clinical Psychologist, Rachel James trained with the Tavi before returning in 2003 to work across clinical services at the Trust, becoming its Clinical Services Director in 2022. Rachel believes in personalised care and is committed to promoting an agile, thoughtful response to the challenges within mental health and the wellbeing landscape.
Since 2016, she’s been the clinical lead for the National i-Thrive programme supporting its national implementation and she also led on the Trust’s recent accreditation as Veteran Aware. She holds a masters in healthcare leadership and has worked in the NHS for 30 years.
Craig de Sousa
Craig de Sousa is a human resources and corporate governance professional with over twenty years’ experience of working for the NHS.
He was director of human resources and corporate governance at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, and is now Systems Resourcing Director for NHS England after being seconded there to lead the workforce response to Covid-19 vaccine deployment in 2020.
He is also the elected vice president for the London branch of the Healthcare People Management Association. A keen linguist, Craig speaks four languages.
Margaret Rustin
Margaret Rustin is a Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychotherapist. She was Head of Child Psychotherapy at the Tavistock Clinic from 1985 to 2007.
Training under John Bowlby and Martha Harris, she has written on many aspects of the practice and teaching of child analysis and on the contribution of psychoanalysis to the appreciation of literature, including as co-author with Michael Rustin. Her book on Closely Observed Infants is still in print after 30 years.
She is currently responsible for the provision of child psychotherapy as part of a major comparative outcome study of different forms of treatment for adolescent depression. She continues to make Tavistock thinking widely available, having taught and lectured on all the continents. Margaret is also an Associate of the British Psychoanalytic Society.
